Music is so important to me and I love blabbering about my favorite bands and singers and especially bassists... I'll have special pages for some of my ALL TIME FAVORITE bands so I can express just how much I like them :D I have a huuuuge fondness for heavy music but of course I like some stuff that isn't as scream-y. I really like INDUSTRIAL music, as well as a plethora of metal genres (I really don't get why some people get their panties in a knot about genres but like okay I get it SOMETIMES you know but it is NOT that big of a deal..). I love death metal and goregrind/pornogrind/anythinggrossgrind (you know the ones I mean..) Deathcore is probably one of my favorite genres and I do find it really sad when bands lose that little spark from those MySpace deathcore days but I resume..I definitely LOVE NU METAL SOOO BADDDD it is possibly one of my fave genres ever (there I go talking about genres even though you just saw me go off abt that haha)
Album: The Golden Age of Grotesque Band: Marilyn Manson Relseased: 2003
This track is SUCH a perfect intro to this album, it makes the bass of the next song kicking in SO GOOD. I have the cassette for this album, so the slow buildup in this song kinda fits perfectly because as the tape itself starts up and you can see the spindles(?) spinning almost to the beat.
GREAT TRACK. After the build up in the previous song the bass starts in this song and it just KICKS!!!! I love the "Do we get it? NO Do we want it? YEAH!" Because it feels so chanty and it feels like one of those moments where the singer turns the mic to the crowd, just wonderful. PLus this song was in Hatchet (2006) in the beginning, sick way to start that movie... The music video is such a good way to showcase how this era was going to be, the outfits, makeup and performance. The "Now it's you-know-who" part OMG. I LOVE WHEN HE SINGS LIKE THAT IN BETWEEN VERSES BRO. I lov how different this album sounds compared to their previous (Holy Wood). Perfect time to bring up how I really like Tim Skold's addition to the band-
Remember when I said I loved chanty parts of songs. That's all this song is basically and it is amAZING! Before I talk about the song itself I just wanna say in the music video this I love Manson's makeup with the blue and the bowler cap- ANYWAYS THE CHORUS IS SO CATCHY!! "You want commitment, put on your best suit" and the quieter part after thats all whispery is amazing when it builds up to his scream after. I dig the whole burlesque theme in this album too. John 5 on guitar on this track......perfect
The kind of radio-ish sound effect Manson uses in the post-chorus is soo fun I'm pretty sure he uses it multiple times during this album. This song feels like it has a sort of bounce to it, Ginger hitting the snare really adds to that methinkss... more chanty parts, which is definitely used a lot because of the inspiration from pre-Nazi Germany and yk how Manson has that...interest in all that kind of stuff, but I do think it makes the album very interesting, so it's cool to see him pull inspiration from that kind of stuff
GOD DO I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MARILYN MANSON AND HOW HE TALKS ABOUT MEDIA AND HOW HE'S PERCIEVED IN MEDIAAA I LOVE IT I LOVE HIM TALKING ABOUT SOCIETY AND ITS ISSUES AND TELLING PEOPLE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES. This whole song is about ACTING instead of just trying to talk everything out, because if you've been pushed down so many times or hated for no reason no one is going to calmly speak with you and they won't take you seriously when you try to make change. Using your FIST and not your MOUTH (which heheheh nice innuendo) will get you listened to, it's been proven in history. Those last lines "I woke up today and wished for tomorrow, I don't want to even be myself" HELL YEAH DUDE RELATABILITY YA KNOW!!!
I reaalllyyy like the high notes (I guess you could call them that) he does in this song, I like how the beat feels like a trudging march. "Gloominati" Genius.
ALL. TIME. FAVORITE. ON THIS ALBUM!!! GOD I LOVE THE MUSIC VIDEO SOO MUCHHH AND THIS ENTIRE SONG IS JUST AMAZEBALLS DUDE. "I got an F and a C and I got a K too and the only thing that's missing is a b*tch like you" FEELS LIKE WHEN HE SAID "I wasn't born with enough middle fingers I don't need to pick a side" but that's just me. Wow just wow I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!!
